Scania strengthens customer support services in the Newcastle region.

Scania will welcome Newcastle’s Trucksmart to its national network of authorised independent service dealers at the start of August 2020, as it strengthens its commitment to meeting the needs of its growing customer-base in Newcastle, the Central Coast and the Hunter Region of NSW.

Welcoming Trucksmart to the Scania dealer network, Sean Corby, New South Wales Regional Executive Manager for Scania Australia, said the move would provide greater service access.

“Trucksmart operates extended business hours and has more technicians and work-bays which will mean greater convenience and accessibility for service and repairs for Scania customers. Trucksmart is an experienced, well-known and highly regarded service agent in the region, and is located 500 m away from our Newcastle branch, which has been operating there for the past 10 years.

“The Scania branch in Enterprise Drive, Beresfield will cease operations at the end of July, and we anticipate many of the existing service staff will transition to Trucksmart, taking their Scania experience and knowledge with them for the benefit our customers.

“Scania will continue to focus its attention on its capital city company-owned branches. We are presently in the process of establishing a new branch at Eastern Creek, which we anticipate being open for business in 2021,” Sean said.

Trucksmart is a family-owned and operated Newcastle-based business that has been providing service and repairs to all makes of trucks and all types of operators from owner-drivers to fleets since 1992. It is owned and operated by David Body, who has decades of experience working closely with European trucks and was an authorised dealer for one of those brands for 10 years a decade ago.

“Our business is staffed by a dedicated team of parts and service personnel with extensive European truck knowledge, and we are very focused on providing our customers with a personal and friendly service,” David Body said.

“We are well known in the region and we have built up a very large array of clients across the state and nationally. Internally, we are very focused on providing an excellent service for customers, particularly with European trucks, and we are delighted to be taking on an official role within the Scania service and repair dealer network.

“We have just opened a brand-new purpose-built dealership with six workshop bays for our current roster of 16 technicians and apprentices, and we look forward to welcoming aboard many of the technicians and parts team from the Scania Newcastle branch,” David said.

“Our customers really appreciate our extended hours of operation in order to support their uptime requirements. We’re open from 7.00am-to-midnight Monday-to-Saturday, and we run a fleet of three out-of-hours emergency breakdown vehicles.

“The establishment of the new workshop has required a significant investment in lubrication systems and brake and chassis testing equipment, as well as a wash bay,” he said.

“Trucksmart has a prominent main road frontage with easy access from both directions. Driver-friendly features we have built-in to the new facility include a restroom with facilities for meals, hot and cold drinks, sleeping, and showering.

“Our Trucksmart, and now Scania dealership, is as state-of-the-art as it is possible to be,” David said.
